NEW VIDEO: This latest video was taken at Staunton River State Park in Virginia. Hidalgo loves the water and will go as deep as you want to go - even swim if you want to! Larry asked him to step up on a broken dam in one segment of the video and the horse was willing, but Larry was afraid that he may jump go on over the drop-off, but he gently stepped up and then stepped back down again - all "unrehearsed" and you see it here in this video! He will go up and down any incline, no matter how steep, placing his feet slow and steady - very steadfast and safe trail partner! This horse holds endless possibilities for any rider - take him anywhere you want. In the following video, you will see Hidalgo be asked to do a series of requests - from carrying the trash (full of rattling aluminum cans) to the yellow rain slicker, carrying a work zone barrel and waiting patiently while Larry, (gracefully?) reaches down from the saddle to pick up a small cone on the ground and then puts it back on the ground. He is surefooted going up and down a steep bank. He will step it down when asked and will jump it only when asked. He stands perfectly still to mount and dismount (even from the off-side). He is a very long-striding, old-timey, head-shaking, naturally gaited trail horse.

There is no better way to see this gorgeous country than from the back of a safe, smooth and willing horse…a great trail friend…just like Big Boy! This very stout built, 16.2h gelding is a “gentle giant” with a big ol’ heart to match that big ol’ body! He is so gentle and truly loves to please his people! He is very easy to ride. If you can get on him…you can ride him! Oh, he will stand there for you…statue still, but he is a tall one! But…oh, so easy-going! If you are new to horses, he would be a great first horse! He is well-built and stout enough to carry a very large rider, but safe enough for a child! Notice that he does not even require a bit to ride! Big Boy is a great horse for a rider just starting out or anyone who would enjoy a quiet, easy-going trail horse. He does not mind riding at a slower pace, relaxed and not in a hurry. Truly, if you can sit in a chair (more like on your couch!), you can ride him - he makes a complete novice feel like a pro! He is naturally gifted in gait and this also makes him EASY to ride! This gelding is content to walk along all day if desired, even very slowly, but he can really cover the ground if you call on him and has an amazing, floating canter, too!
