Junior Scouts: Horse Fan
Badge For the "Horse Fan" Badge, Junior Girl Scouts are to
choose 6 of the 10 listed Activities in their Badge Book. Several of the
Activities are research projects that the girls are to look up and find out
about themselves. The intent of this badge is for the girls to spend time
researching these subjects. Therefore, in the spirit of this intent, Heavens
Gait Farm will provide some guidance, but leave some portions for individual
and troop work. We will also give some ideas on some of the other
information they are to collect for other Activity choices.
Horse Fan Options
(with 5 provided Activities)
Heavens Gait Farm will do a Clinic for the troop which includes Activity
Numbers 2, 6, and 7 as described in the Junior Girl Scout Badge Book. In
addition, the troop will choose 2 more of the following Activities: 3, 4, or
8.
TOTAL ESTIMATED TIME: 2 to 2½ Hours
TOTAL COST: $15 per Scout (minimum 6)
INCLUDES: Activity Numbers 2, 6, and 7, plus the choice of two between 3, 4,
& 8
Horseback Riding Add-On:
There are no required Horseback Riding Activities for the Horse Fan
Badge. However, if your troop would like to add in a Ride, we can can do
this for an additional cost of $5.00 per scout.
TOTAL TIME ADDED: 1 Hour
TOTAL COST ADDED: $5 per Scout
Junior Scouts: Horse Rider Badge
For the “Horse Rider” Badge, Junior Girl Scouts are to choose 6 of the 10
listed Activities in their Badge Book. Heavens Gait Farm will customize the
Clinic Sessions to the Activities your troop chooses. Following are Two
Options your troop could select, with at least 6 Activities each. LUNCH
is provided with both options.
Horse Rider Option ONE:
Heavens Gait Farm will do a Clinic for the troop which includes Activity
Numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 as described in the Junior Girl Scout Badge
Book. Picnic Lunch provided.
TOTAL TIME: 4 to 5 Hours (Minimal Riding Activities):
TOTAL COST: $35 per Scout (minimum 6)
INCLUDES: Activity Numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 & 7
Horse Rider Option TWO:
Heavens Gait Farm will do a Clinic for the troop which includes Activity
Numbers 1, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9 as described in the Junior Girl Scout Badge
Book. Camp-fire lunch provided.
TOTAL TIME: 6-7 Hours (Moderate Riding Activities):
TOTAL COST: $55 per Scout (minimum 6)
INCLUDES: Activity Numbers 1, 3, 4, 7, 8 & 9
These are FULL and FUN days for the girls with lots of activity and
information. Emphasis on Safety always. Release forms will be required prior
to riding and will be sent to troop leaders for parents signatures before
heading out to the farm. Long pants and close-toed shoes must be worn. $50
Deposit will HOLD your clinic date open.
